Privacy Policy

Effective October 9, 2026

Draft Duel is built to need very little information about you: no account, no email address and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what is processed when you play.

Who runs Draft Duel

Draft Duel is operated by R. D. Walker (“we”, “us”). You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@letsdraftduel.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Coach name. The display name you type (2–20 characters). It is shown to your opponent and stored with your games. You do not need to use your real name, and we recommend you don't.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.

Information created when you play

  • A guest ID. A random identifier created the first time you play. It is not linked to your name, email, device or any other account, and it is how the game knows which seat and roster are yours. We also record when a guest ID was created and when it was last used.
  • Room and match records. Room codes, which guest created a room, when rooms opened and closed, who played in each match, every draft pick (with its time and whether it was made automatically) and game results: scores, quarter-by-quarter scoring, team statistics and player box scores.

Technical information

Like any website, our servers receive technical information with each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Our game server uses your IP address briefly to limit abuse (for example, too many rooms created in a short time); we do not store IP addresses in our game database. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this request information to deliver and protect the site, and our server's diagnostic logs (Cloudflare Workers Logs) record request and error details for troubleshooting.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your email address, phone number, location, contacts or payment details. We use no advertising trackers. We do not sell or rent personal information.

How we use information

  • To run matches: seat you in a room, show your name to your opponent, run the draft and the game, and reconnect you if your connection drops.
  • To keep a record of matches and results, which we use to fix bugs, check fairness and improve the game.
  • To protect the service from abuse, such as automated or excessive requests.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used and how fast it loads (see “Website analytics”).
  • To answer you when you contact us.

Cookies and local storage

Draft Duel does not set cookies. It uses your browser's storage for things the game needs to work:

  • localStorage: your guest session (guest ID, coach name and a signed session token), so you keep your seat when you reload or come back. The session expires after 30 days.
  • sessionStorage: a few short-lived technical values (for example, to avoid reloading the page repeatedly after an update). These are cleared when you close the tab.

You can delete these at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. You will then start as a new guest. Our hosting provider may set its own strictly necessary security cookies; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Hosting and service providers

We use these providers to run Draft Duel. They process information on our behalf, under their own terms and policies:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the website and game servers (Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects), and connects them to our database (Hyperdrive). Live room state is held by Cloudflare while a room is open and deleted when the room closes.
  • Neon — hosts our PostgreSQL database, which stores guest records and match history.

We do not share personal information with anyone else, except where required by law.

Website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see, in aggregate, how the site is used and how quickly pages load — for example, which pages are visited, the referring site, the browser, device type and country, and page-load timings. According to Cloudflare, it does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint visitors and does not track you across websites, and the information is not used for advertising. See Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

Data retention

Live room state is kept only while a room is open; a room closes after 15 minutes without activity, 5 minutes with nobody connected, or 2 hours at most. Guest records and match history in our database are currently kept until they are deleted at your request or by us; we do not yet delete them automatically. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your message.

Data security

Connections to Draft Duel use HTTPS. Session tokens are cryptographically signed, database credentials are never sent to browsers, and the server checks every game action itself. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the information connected to your guest ID by emailing info@letsdraftduel.com. Because there are no accounts, include your coach name and, if you can, a room code and the approximate date you played, so we can find your records. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as the right to object to processing or to complain to a data-protection authority.

Children's privacy

Draft Duel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Future advertising

Draft Duel does not show ads today. We may introduce them in the future — for example, Google AdSense to help cover running costs. Advertising services typically use cookies or similar technologies to measure and, in some cases, personalise ads. Before that is switched on, we will update this policy to name the providers and explain your choices, and where the law requires it (for example, for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) we will ask for your consent first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Draft Duel handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
